History
Tile doesn't have 'wow' luster for a story but there there is a history of how we came to be.

In 1999, I worked in the heart of New Orleans as a studio manager for an artist who created amazing art from materials of torn down homes.  I was fascinated at how she took her creativity and turned it into a thriving business....I thought I could do the same.  Having an artistic hand I looked for something to start and stumbled upon mosaic tile.  I loved working with the medium and set out to start something with it.  Being a computer geek at heart and not finding much online at the time, I created a website to sell mosaic tile and cater towards crafters and artisans.

In 2000 we moved to Southern California (or rather back to) and I set up shop at home.  I found bright colorful glass from Mexico that I brought in and rich vibrant smalti from Italy.  Customers loved my selection and I had created a niche for myself.  Soon there were many requests for sheets of mosaic for backsplashes and bathrooms.  I did some research and connected with some distributors that offer unique high end glass that wasn't found at local home improvement stores.  People loved it and we busted out of our dinning room office in Long Beach and moved the business into it's own warehouse space. We now carry over 500 lines of mosaic tile that we find unique for people looking for something different.

Mosaic Source is now settled in Los Alamitos where we hold mosaic workshops and still carry those high end lines of glass. We've had our ups and downs as all small businesses do but eleven years later have managed to stick around.  We love our workshops as it introduces this ancient art form to eager students wanting to 'recreate' something old into something vibrant and colorful.

Thank you for taking the time for shopping with us!
